My Journey

My scientific journey has been shaped by a sustained curiosity about how complex biological pathways can be understood, reconstructed, and ultimately engineered for impact. Trained in India and currently working in the United States, I have built an interdisciplinary research profile spanning molecular biology, enzymology, and synthetic biology, with a particular focus on carotenoid and apocarotenoid biosynthesis. My work integrates classical bench experimentation with computational modeling and systems-level thinking, allowing me to move seamlessly from gene discovery to pathway reconstruction in microbial hosts. Along the way, I have had the opportunity to mentor students, teach advanced biochemistry, and engage in translational problem-solving at the interface of academia and biotechnology. At its core, my journey reflects a commitment to rigorous science, reproducibility, and the belief that fundamental enzymatic insight can be transformed into scalable, real-world solutions.
